What we do
LET’S MAKE A RADICAL IMPACT ON CLIMATE NOW
The surest, fastest route to bend the climate curve is to radically reduce methane emissions in the next 10 years.
Today, climate-committed agricultural organizations use our unique technology platform to minimize their GHG footprints. Together, we’re on the path to drive Gigatonne-scale reductions of CO2-e emissions by 2030.
Our first stop: slash enteric methane emissions.
Making low-methane animal production a reality
Methane Tamer is a line of animal feed supplement formulations based on Asparagopsis seaweed, which is the most effective natural substance for reducing enteric methane—up to 90%.
Company's story
Our Specialty
A key ingredient in Methane Tamer formulations is Asparagopsis. Natural compounds in this seaweed prevent methane gas from being formed during the digestive process of ruminant animals, a fact first demonstrated by researchers in Australia.
Asparagopsis has been shown to reduce enteric methane emissions by up to 90% in beef and dairy cattle as well as sheep, with no adverse effects to livestock, their products, or the environment.
Besides reducing methane, Asparagopsis also has been shown to have additional benefits, such as reduced loss of feed energy to enteric fermentation.

Our story
Our mission is to meaningfully impact climate change at scale, by developing gigatonne-scale greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation solutions for global industries and governments that are committed to averting climate disaster and acting for a net zero world starting now.
The founders set the initial focus on methane—one of the most potent GHGs—because aggressive methane mitigation is the best way to maximize positive climate impact. Meanwhile, research had shown that up to 90% of enteric methane from cattle—a major source of global methane emissions—can be prevented with tiny amounts of Asparagopsis seaweed.
Today, CH4 Global is harnessing the power of Asparagopsis seaweed to combat climate change. Steve Meller, CEO and co-founder, leads a team of global business veterans with expertise in turning ambitious ideas into successful, fit-for-purpose products. Teams in Australia and New Zealand, where Asparagopsis is native, are helping transform the region into ground zero for worldwide sustainable production of Asparagopsis.
In 2023, we introduced Methane Tamer™, our revolutionary methane-reducing feed supplement formulation targeted for beef feedlot cattle. Even if adopted for only 10% of cattle worldwide, Methane Tamer would deliver more climate benefit than decommissioning 50-100 million fossil-fueled cars (measures using GWP 100 or 20).
Working together with our partners, we are advancing toward our 10% by 2030 target of reaching 150 million cattle—10% of the world total—on all six habitable continents, which will prevent the emission of 1 gigaton of CO2 equivalent.
