Restoring balance to our atmosphere

What we do
CO2 removal is a necessity
By mid century, we’ll need to remove billions of tons each year – equivalent to 10-20% of today’s annual global emissions – if we want to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°C. Even if emissions stopped tomorrow, the CO2 that’s already in the atmosphere will take thousands of years to dissipate – all the while the planet will continue to warm. We need to permanently remove CO2 from the atmosphere, and Direct Air Capture is the best solution available to do this today.
Designed for scale, engineered for impact
We use limestone, one of the world’s most abundant and inexpensive minerals, to capture CO2 directly from the atmosphere, and then permanently and safely store the CO2 underground or in materials like concrete.

Our Specialty
OUR TECHNICAL ADVANTAGE
The fastest path to low-cost Direct Air Capture
We will remove CO2 from the air at increasingly lower costs as our technology scales, allowing us to meaningfully impact the climate problem.
- Low-cost inputs
Making up 4% of the Earth’s surface and costing as little as $10 a ton, limestone is more abundant, far less expensive, and easier to source than custom engineered materials.
- Modular
Our carbon removal facilities are built for simple, mass manufacturing and have independent components and processes that can be optimized over time.
- Learning from every ton
We constantly collect data to refine and optimize our CO2 uptake rate – further increasing our output and reducing cost.

Our story
We’re building a more resilient and equitable future
Climate change disproportionately impacts the world’s most vulnerable people. We founded Heirloom because we believe that this inequity needs to be redressed.
We are optimistic that humans will find a way to bend the temperature curve downwards. First and foremost, we must transition away from fossil fuels to sustainable, low-carbon economies. But we must also remove billions of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year to hit climate goals.
Heirloom will produce high-quality, permanent carbon removal storage credits to enable governments, organizations and marketplaces with demonstrable commitment to emissions reductions to achieve their climate goals. The CO2 we remove from the atmosphere will never be used for enhanced oil recovery.
Our vision for Heirloom goes beyond our technology. We will prioritize siting our facilities on non-arable land as well as siting our technology in fossil energy communities to provide high-paying, climate-friendly jobs and to drive investment in education and reskilling.
Guided by deeply held beliefs
Our technology is designed to drive down the cost of CO2 removal technology so it can scale quickly and mitigate the worst impacts of climate change.
Radical Honesty
Bottom line - we are open, transparent, and inclusive in everything we do. We aren't scared to challenge each other, but bring our best intentions when we do.
Persistent Optimism
We carry an infinite amount of optimistic energy with us on our journey, constantly chipping away at what may seem insurmountable.
Maximize Learning Rate
Our growth and knowledge must compound for us to remove 1 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2035. We continuously hone our crafts, seeking the fastest paths to new learnings.
