SoHHytec alleviates the current dependency on fossil fuels by bringing a cleaner, greener, sustainable, and cost-effective fuel and power production system. Mimicking nature, our first tailormade creation is a renewable system for onsite production of solar Fuel (Hydrogen, Oxygen) and Power (Electricity and Heat). Our patented innovative technology based on our artificial photosynthesis device called ‘Arb’ is an artificial tree that utilizes only the sun and water as the input resources to produce Hydrogen, Oxygen, Electricity, and Heat all at the same time and on the same site; with efficiencies of ~80% requiring minimal ground space. Our Arbs comprises a solar parabolic reflector that concentrates the sunlight (up to 1000 suns) onto our proprietary integrated-photo-electrochemical (IPEC) device which uses this energy to split the water into highly pure (>99.999%) hydrogen and oxygen gases. Our Arbs has a solar-to-electricity efficiency of ~36% (almost double than existing conventional solar panels), solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of ~25% (double than competing commercial solutions), and hold the world record as the best solar-to-hydrogen production system.

Arb can be operated not only with solar energy but also with additional electricity (if required) to have 24-hour continuous production.

We finished 2 years back our product-scale pilot development phase, with a successful demonstration and continuous long-term testing and production of our pilot on the EPFL campus.
