What we do
Fishing gear used to catch the fish we eat every day.
In fact, they have become ocean plastic and are having a major impact on global ocean pollution.
Marine plastic is also causing a problem known as “ghost nets,” in which seals, turtles, and other marine life become entangled in nets that have been dumped into the ocean, killing them.
This is known as “ghost nets.
amu Corporation was established in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, in order to recover and recycle such fishing nets as a resource.
Company's story
Our Specialty
Project Details
We selected fishing gears to be collected in each fishing town and established a collection system.
Visualize which fishermen in which area and how much fishing gear they cooperated in collecting, and with what kind of mindset.
This information is used to add value to the product when it is converted into a resource.
After the gear is converted into resources with partner companies, product development and sales will be conducted.

Our story
The fishing gear that fishermen risked their lives for will surely become a resource for the future.
I founded amu Corporation with the conviction that this could be a world-class business from Sanriku, one of the world's three largest fishing grounds, and Kesennuma, a place I love.
However, it is also true that discarded fishing gear can be cut from many different perspectives in addition to the potential I feel it has.
Research data shows that 44.5% of ocean plastic waste is fishing gear, which has an impact on ocean pollution.
The problem of ghost nets, in which marine organisms become entangled in discarded fishing gear and lose their lives.
It is often cut out from a negative perspective.
While these problems exist as part of discarded fishing nets, I approach discarded fishing nets from a completely different angle.
How can we find and refine the potential of discarded fishing gear, and how can we increase the number of people who believe in the potential of discarded fishing gear? I believe that this is important and will change the world.
My idea of “changing the world” is to “turn worthlessness into value.
There are good reasons why people think something is worthless. There is no doubt that it is a difficult task ahead to change that. People often say to me, “You are doing something difficult, something thankless.” I am often told.
That's why it's interesting.
I am the only one who believes in the possibilities that no one else has seen.
I will prove that the world will change a little bit for the better beyond that point.
We would be happy if you have any interest in where amu is going.
Thank you for your interest in amu Corporation.
