What we do

Wave Duck is a hydrogen generation / CO2 capture system that harnesses the energy of the vast ocean.
By utilizing renewable energy and capturing CO2 from the atmosphere, we aim to create a carbon-neutral society.

Company's story

Our Specialty
What is Wave-DAC®?
Wave energy is used to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The technology to capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere is called Direct Air Capture, or DAC for short. Wave-DAC®, as the name implies, is a system that captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using wave energy. In addition, the Wave DAC also produces hydrogen in the process of capturing CO2.
The mechanism is very simple. It is achieved through electrolysis of filtered seawater. The concept of the Wave Duck is to use waves, a renewable energy source, to supply the electricity needed for electrolysis. The round, egg-shaped* system is floated on the ocean and tilted by the waves to generate electricity.
Using renewable energy to generate hydrogen and also capturing CO2 from the atmosphere, Wave Duck is a new technology for achieving carbon neutrality.
*It may evolve into a completely different form as it is developed and verified.

We are currently in the process of completing operational verification using a principle prototype and conducting basic research in the ocean using an experimental unit approximately 2 meters high. In our R&D to date, we have confirmed the effectiveness of CO2 capture and hydrogen production using weak waves of about 30 cm in height. In the future, we will conduct demonstration experiments over a longer period of time to improve the efficiency and stability of the system. After that, the system will be put into commercial use when its practicality is assured through sufficient verification.
Our story
Wave Duck is being developed under the leadership of Shigeo Nakayama, who is responsible for its development.

After working for a judicial scrivener's office, he opened his own administrative scrivener's office in 2003, and started research and development of renewable energy in 2012. After developing "solar chimney power generation," in which air heated by asphalt pavement is collected in a tower chimney and the rising air current turns a fan, and "kite (kite) power generation" (patented), in which power is generated using the air currents above the tower without a prop, he is currently working on the development of a "Wave-powered Direct Air Capture & Hydrogen Generator (Wave-DAC/Wave)," a system that uses the attitude change of floating bodies caused by ocean waves to directly capture CO2 in the atmosphere and generate hydrogen simultaneously. The company is currently developing "Wave powered Direct Air Capture & Hydrogen Generator (Wave-DAC)" (NEDO award winner), a system that simultaneously captures carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen by utilizing changes in the attitude of a floating structure caused by ocean waves.
