What we do

We harness plants ability to fix carbon and pair it with preservation in anoxic basins to achieve
durable carbon sequestration.

what is abc’s?
Anoxic Biological Carbon Sequestration (ABC’S) is a method for large-scale Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR).

ABC’S works by placing excess biomass, e.g. the plant stalks left over from agriculture, into an anoxic basin. Carboniferous’s job is to first establish the safety of this process and then coordinate the science and logistics of this CDR process.

Our Specialty
Our Process
We Harness the Ability of Plants to Fix Carbon and Pair it with Durable Preservation in Anoxic Basins.

Carboniferous is rigorously testing it’s ABC’S in both laboratory and real world experiments. We’re working to experimentally verify that we achieve 1,000-year+ permanence and do not contribute to atmospheric methane release. Multiple lines of evidence are required to prove the method and monitor our operations.

Biomass preservation in anoxic basins.

At the core of our process is the utilization of a natural carbon sequestration pathway and its place within the global carbon cycle. Through meticulous research, sustainable practices, and collaborative efforts, we endeavor to protect the environments we operate in and interact with.
Our story
What We are Exploring Next

Our interdisciplinary team conducts research to assess the effectiveness and environmental impacts of large-scale anoxic basin carbon storage for climate mitigation, relying on rigorous and transparent methods to guide our sequestration efforts.
