Society is awash with environmental issues such as “resource depletion,” “global warming,” and “garbage problems.” A decade ago, they may have been problems only for the government or companies that could afford them.
Today, however, companies that do not take environmental issues into consideration are not allowed to do business. Therefore, many companies are trying to take action on the environment.

We have the technology to convert carbon dioxide into various substances with cyanobacteria, which are photosynthetic cyanobacteria. We are also conducting joint research with many companies.
In the course of our joint research with companies, we have been receiving requests to introduce and research and develop environmental technology using cyanobacteria one after another.
However, universities are setting up cultures with hand-made apparatuses and equipment, which is very inefficient.
Therefore, we wanted to support them by commercializing “starting up research and development and new businesses immediately using carbon dioxide as a resource.
Biotechnology may have an image of huge investment. However, cyanobacteria, a microorganism, can be researched and developed with a small amount of money. This makes it possible to develop environmental technologies without having companies and others take risks.
