What we do

Kemiwatt’s energy storage system is very flexible. Power and capacity can be decoupled.

Modules can be added to reach the power needed (from tens of kW to several MW) and tanks can be enlarged to increase the capacity (from hundreds of kWh to MWh).

As the system is very safe, it can be containerized or located in a building.

Company's story

Our Specialty
Kemwatt has successfully designed, assembled and tested a:

10 kW industrial prototype
20 kW industrial demonstrator

of an Organic Redox Flow Battery, that can store electricity from renewable sources or support smart grids and microgrids.

Redox Flow Batteries are a great energy storage solution since they can store many hours of energy production, such as wind energy at night or solar energy in the middle of the day, chemically in liquid electrolytes.

Until today these batteries used highly acidic, corrosive electrolytes, resulting in reliability, lifetime, safety and environmental issues.

Thanks to its non-corrosive, alkaline chemistry and its more natural molecules, Kemiwatt’s Organic Redox Flow Battery solves these problems and makes large-scale implementation possible, whether for industrial purposes or remote areas.
Our story
Who We Are

Since its creation in 2014, Kemiwatt has made several world premieres, with the first organic Redox battery prototype in 2016 and the first industrial demonstrator in 2017.

These innovations, achieved in record time, result from a close collaboration between the SRI (Rennes 1 University of Chemistry), Kemiwatt experts and investors (Ouest Valorisation, DEMETER, GO Capital and PY Divet) who understand the tremendous potential of this disruptive technology.
