What we do
Plant based, new Functional and Sustainable Material “Kapok".
It is a sustainable material that is 1/8th the weight of cotton, absorbs moisture and generates heat, and does not require the cutting down of trees because it is made from tree nuts.
Until now, kapok has not been used in the apparel industry due to the difficulty of processing.
Through processing using special technology, kapok has been transformed into an amazingly thin, lightweight, and warm sheet.
This is KAPOK JAPAN's "Ethical Down Kapok.
Company's story
Our Specialty
「Ethical Down KapokⓇ」
Kapok, a tree nut, has been reborn with a special technology.
"Ethical Down Kapok "Ⓡ
1. Lightness
So lightweight!
1/8th as light as cotton.
Kapok fiber is a very light material because it is hollow.
It is said to be 1/8th as light as cotton.
"Warmth of down with only 500g" can be realized because of the characteristics of this material.
2. Warmness
So warm!
Down that grows on trees
Because kapok is plant based, it "breathes" unlike polyester, a synthetic fiber.
It has a function called "moisture absorption heating," which absorbs moisture and warms the wearer, making it both light and warm.
Because of these characteristics, kapok is also known as "down that grows on trees" or "white silk cotton.
Ethical Down Kapok™ is a sheet of kapok mixed with recycled polyester.
3. Sustainability
So Sustainable!
Thinking together about the Future of the Earth
Kapok cotton comes from the fruit of the kapok tree. It is plant based materials, but the trees themselves are not used, so there is no need to cut down the forests.
It is also a plant native to Indonesia that grows with little water and requires no strong pesticides.
As demand for kapok grows, so does the cycle of job creation, greening, and even forest conservation in Southeast Asia.
In addition, while waterfowl feathers are usually used for down, kapok is a plant, making it an animal-free material.

Our story
Mission
Bringing sustainable and functional materials to the world.
To enjoy fashion now and to think about the future of the earth and the next generation.
We are ambitious and aim for both.
Producers, consumers, and the global environment.
We are seeking a form that is not unreasonable for all,We promise to deliver sustainable and functional materials to the world.
Value
01 EXPLORE
[Jumping over "borders" easily]
It is easy to turn a blind eye to differences based on "common sense" or "the norm.
However, encountering differences also means encountering new richness.
Just as we freely move between the city and nature,
We can easily jump over the borders of categories and individuals.
02 TOUCH
[Feel the touch of "sustainable".]
Feel the touch of "sustainable".
We don't use "sustainable" and "eco" as a shield.
How does one action change what and who it changes? Realizing the results of sustainable actions is what drives people.
03 KNOT
[Reconnecting "oneself and the world"]
The biorhythms of the mind and body are the biorhythms of the earth.
Society has neglected the individual mind and body in its pursuit of efficiency. By confronting and expanding yourself, which is part of the earth,
This is a step to take the world as one's own.
04 SHIFT
[Facing the " bothersome things" will change the way you see the world.]
When problems occur, they are most often caused by differences in values.
It is precisely at such times that we return to our mission and engage in careful dialogue. If we can reconnect with the system instead of attributing the cause, we can see the world differently.
